You’ve grimaced at the images of sex trafficking, AIDS, lack of access to basic health care, and unsafe living conditions. Despite gains in civil rights for women, more than three in ten female heads of household live below the poverty line.

Our grantee, Women’s Funding Network, is actively demonstrating that helping these women move out of poverty is the most effective way to boost the economic security of all American families. By harnessing the voice and power of women’s foundations, they are improving lives.

The next time you are walking down a crowded street, note the next three women you pass.

Odds are, one of them has or will be beaten, coerced into sex or abused in her lifetime.

We believe this terrible statistic is simply unacceptable, and we’re committed to help grantees who are working to do something about it.
