On January 12, a devastating earthquake left tens of thousands of Haitians with injuries that required one or more limbs to be amputated.
Working with a group of coalition partners, the Harold and Kayrita Family Foundation are bringing help, hope and healing to Haitian amputees.
Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics, Physicians for Peace, Otto Bock and the Shepherd Center have teamed up with the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti to provide amputees with instructional brochures on proper wound care and, once they are sufficiently healed, with prosthetic limbs.
The goal: to provide every Haitian who needs one with a prosthetic limb.
